BEHIND THE PHOTO - BROWN SKIN GIRL

If I’m being honest, there has been way too much happening this past week and I wasn’t exactly feeling motivated to actually do an “official” self portrait, let alone actually PLAN one.
This self portrait was inspired, loosely, by the song “Brown Skin Girl”, which featured Blue Ivy, SAINt JHN, Beyoncé, and WIzKid. If you haven’t heard the song, you need to put it on and just rock with it...

I’ve been wanting to do a monochromatic brown type self portrait and I realized that I didn’t have a whole lot of clothing options that I haven’t worn already and I really didn’t want to re-use one for this.

I also don’t own any backdrops, or have a brown wall, so I went into the storage and grabbed some wood shelves and a pallet that was in there to create my “set”.

Of course, when I did the actual session, I was pleased with more photos than usual and can hardly pick just one. Ha! So, naturally, YOU, the amazing Insider, get to see all the other keepers from this session. Woohoo!

I honestly didn’t do anything that cool when it came to my make-up and no super-detailed edits…Just using a tweaked version of the Alma preset in Lauren + Douglas’ Maggie I Collection.

I will show you the BTS of the shooting portion of the session, though.
